山西位于中國華北地區，黃河中游、黃土高原東部。山西簡稱“晉”，省會太原。全省

總面積15.6萬平方公里，總人口3702萬，轄11個地級市，119個縣（市、區），目前已建成

省級以上開發區40個。

山西承東啟西、連南接北，目前已形成四通八達、高效便捷的公路、鐵路、航空立體交

通網絡。鐵路營運總里程超過6000公里；公路通車里程14.1萬公里，其中高速公路通車里程超過5000公里；現有太原、大同、運城、長治、呂梁、臨汾、五臺山七個通航機場。

山西物產豐富、資源富集，目前已發現的礦產資源有120多種。其中，查明資源儲量

的有62種；保有資源儲量居全中國前十位的有36種；具有資源優勢的礦產有煤、煤層氣、鋁土礦、鐵礦、銅礦、金紅石、白云巖、耐火粘土、灰巖、芒硝、石膏、硫鐵礦等13種，其中，煤炭保有資源儲量2767.85億噸，煤層氣保有資源儲量1825.16億立方米，鋁土礦保有資源儲量14.16億噸。

山西歷史悠久、文化燦爛，是中華民族和中華文明的重要發祥地，有著“中國古代建

筑藝術博物館”、“中國古代文化藝術寶庫”、“五千年文明看山西”等美譽。國家級重點文物保護單位數量高居全國第一；宋金以前的木構建筑占全國同期建筑物的75％以上。

山西區位獨特、政策優越，地處環渤海經濟圈的腹地，緊鄰京津冀、面向中原經濟區、背靠大西北。全面享受國家促進中部地區崛起政策，比照實施振興東北等老工業基地和西部大開發等優惠政策，是國務院批準設立的“國家資源型經濟轉型綜合配套改革試驗區”。

前 言Shanxi is situated in the northern part of China. With a land area of 156,000 km2 and a

population of 37.02 million, Shanxi has jurisdiction over 11 cities and 119 counties. At present,

there are 40 development zones above the provincial level.

Shanxi enjoys a strategic location connecting many provinces along its border. A highly

efficient network of highway, railway and air traffic has been built. By 2017, the mileage of

railways has reached 6000 km, high ways over 141,000 km, including express ways 5000 km. At

present, there are 7 airports in Shanxi, respectively in Taiyuan, Datong, Yuncheng, Changzhi,

Lvliang, Linfen and Wutai Mountain.

Shanxi is rich in mineral resources. At present, the province has 120 kinds of proven

minerals. The reserve of coal, coal seam gas, bauxite, magnesium metal, refractory clay ranks

first in China; the reserve of 36 kinds of minerals listed at the forefront of China, such as, coal,

coal bed methane kaolin, gold, silver, copper, iron, etc.

Shanxi is an important birthplace of Chinese nation and its civilization. It has great culture,

beautiful scenery and many historical relics. Therefor it was titled "Art Museum of Chinese

Ancient Architecture", "Treasure House of China's ancient Culture and Arts", "For five thousand

year civilization, you need to visit Shanxi" and so on.The protection unit number of the

state-level cultural relics ranks first in the country, and the wooden construction buildings

before Song and Jin Dynasty account for more than 75% of the buildings at the same period.

Located in the hinterland of the Bohai Sea economic circle, adjacent to

Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Economic Circle, facing the Central Plains Economic Zone, next to the

northwest China, the location of Shanxi province is unique with various policy advantages. As a

comprehensive reform pilot area of national resource-based economy approved by the State

Council, Shanxi province fully enjoys the national policies to promote the rise of the central China

and referentially implements the preferential policies of revitalizing the old industrial base of the

northeast China and the large scale development of the west China.

Shanxi is experiencing rapid economic development, promoted by the rich energy

resources, time-honored culture, advantageous conditions and favorable environment. The GDP

of Shanxi in 2017 totaled 1497.3 billion yuan, and the investment in the fixed assets reached

572.2 billion yuan.
